A little about myself
I am not unlike so many other photographers who wish to capture the world through the lens of a camera, with aspirations to be an Ansel Adams. However, when I had opened the door to the world of photography, I hadn’t expected there to be countless more unopened doors within. I can choose a straight and narrow path, but as I peer around the doors leading to the myriad of paths available, I realize my aspirations aren’t as simple as being a competent lensman. Our eyes convey the world around us but it is with our hearts with which we truly see and it is to this end, I hope my work will present the world from within my heart. My images may appear a bit eclectic as I find my way, but it is a journey of the joy found within the guise of self discovery.
It was my Dad who infused my sister, brother, and I with the passion for photography. In my case, life got in the way of my putting a view finder to my eye until my mid-40s. My Dad was a traditional film photographer and while I do have the Brownie box camera I first used as a kid, the road I currently travel was determined when I opened the door to the digital realm. I had started with a 3mp camera. I then moved on to 5, 6, 10 and finally a full frame 24mp camera. I have also discovered the allure of the prime lens as opposed to zoom lenses. I am doubtful I will ever get rid of my zoom lenses, but I am certain I will purchase a few more prime lenses.
May you find a joy in your life equivalent to the one afforded me by the view through a lens.
Some photographers take reality... and impose the domination of their own thought and spirit. Others come before reality more tenderly and a photograph to them is an instrument of love and revelation.
